How does the 2015 Ram ProMaster Van stack up against the Chevy Express?
The 2015 Ram ProMaster series of vans are built for hauling cargo of all shapes and sizes. Behind the comfortable driver and passenger bucket seats lies up to 406 cubic feet of cargo capacity in the ProMaster 2500 Cargo High Roof model. Perhaps the most unique feature of these Ram vans is that the rear doors open up to a wide 260 degrees, almost folding flat onto the side of the van. This extra wide clearance allows for a standard pallet to be easily loaded and unloaded out the back. The max cargo capacity for the Chevy Express is only 313.9 cubic feet -- that’s nearly 100 cu ft less than in the Ram! As the Ram ProMaster Van is available in a High Roof trim, the maximum interior height in the cargo area is a whopping 76 inches tall. If you opt for the Chevy Express you’re going to lose 23 inches of cargo height, which will surely limit the types of cargo you’ll be able to transport.
The award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is the standard engine in the 2015 Ram ProMaster, producing 280 horsepower and offering a max payload of 4,440 lbs. If you’d like you can opt for the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel I4 engine, which is capable of the same max payload as the V6 but is significantly more fuel-efficient. The Chevy Express Cargo Van comes standard with a V8 engine that produces 285 horsepower. But in the standard 2500 Regular Wheelbase trim, the Express Van can carry a mere 3,309 lbs of max payload. You read that right; that’s over 1000 lbs more payload capabilities in the 2015 Ram ProMaster Van!
Cargo vans are built for business, which means that the long hours and miles of use can really test the powertrain over time. The great news is that the Ram ProMaster’s available powertrains are both durable and come standard with a 100,000 mile/5-year powertrain warranty. The Express Van’s powertrain warranty from Chevy ends after 60,000 miles of 5 years. With the number of miles that most businesses put on their vehicles, you’re bound to reach the 60,000 mile warranty limit before the five years, which makes the Ram’s warranty even that much better.View Inventory
